Grid failure interrupts power supply in Dhaka, Siddhirganj -New Age

Siddhirganj-Ulan grid failure on Tuesday evening interrupted power supply for over two hours in entire Siddhirganj area in Narayanganj and a large area of Dhaka city, officials said. People of Siddhirganj, Jatrabari, Shyampur, Rampura, Banasree, Khilgaon, Malibagh and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar among the areas of Dhaka city faced the sudden power outage, they said. The grid failure even put the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Ganabhaban and Bangabhaban into dark for a few seconds, the officials said. The power outage affected the parliament session when the prime minister Sheikh Hasina was staying at her parliament office. Dhaka Power Distribution Company director Md Ramiz Uddin Sarker told New Age that the authorities concerned restored power supply to the Parliament Bhaban and other sensitive establishments in a shortest time through alternative supply lines. The engineers of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh and the Dhaka Power Distribution Company restored the grid at about 9:30 pm, PGCB managing director Masum Al Beruni said. – See more
